Job summary

Tidewater Finance Company is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the Controller in monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. The role includes hands-on accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, journal reviews, and collaboration across teams to ensure policy compliance and timely deliverables.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, at least 4 years of accounting experience (including cost accounting), and supervisory exposure.

Qualifications

• Accounting: Minimum 4 years (Required)

• Supervisory: Minimum 2 years (Preferred)
• Residential Homebuilding Exposure (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables
• Preparation & review of various general ledger journal entries to support monthly and year-end closing.
• Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, maintaining supporting schedules
• Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financials
• Identify discrepancies in financial records and offer solutions
• Provide analysis of financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)
• Review job costing to ensure accuracy, research discrepancies
• Collaborate with business partners to ensure compliance with policies and controls
• Maintain state/local licensure and annual filings for various entities
• Assist in audit reviews and testing
• Provide guidance and support to team
• Manage overall workflow of accounts payable
• Ensure accounting practices follow legal guidelines and GAAP
• Other duties as assigned
