Job summary

Nienhuis Financial Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage various accounting operations and ensure financial compliance for client engagements. Occasional day travel to Lansing and Kalamazoo areas may be required to meet client needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managerial accounting and a proven record of anticipating needs, problem solving, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of GAAP and ability to adhere to principles.
• Highly proficient with accounting software.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly and addresses bank inquiries.
• Reconciles customer accounts.
• Verifies payments to accounts payable and ensures correct charges.
• Assists external auditors and gathers documents for annual audit.
• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies.
• May assist payroll, manage fixed assets, or adjust trial balances as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
