The role is responsible for coordinating significant close activities, safeguarding balance sheet integrity, supporting manufacturing and inventory accounting, strengthening controls, and ensuring reliable financial reporting.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate can independently resolve complex accounting issues, review and develop the work of others, coordinate across functions, and provide the Controller with clear explanations, risks, and recommendations. Delegated authority remains subject to established company approval policies.

  • Review general ledger activity for completeness, accuracy, cutoff, classification, and material fluctuations.
  • Research nonroutine accounting matters, document U.S. GAAP conclusions, and recommend appropriate treatment to the Controller.
  • Report close status proactively, including open issues, financial exposure, accountable owners, and expected resolution dates.
Balance Sheet and Financial Reporting
  • Own the quality and timeliness of assigned balance sheet reconciliations and coordinate resolution of aging reconciling items.

  • Coordinate assigned financial reporting packages and Corporate Finance submissions, with complete supporting schedules.
  • Support budgets and forecasts through accurate historical data, accrual assessments, and meaningful analysis.
Inventory Accounting and Operations Support
  • Partner with Operations and the Inventory & Cost Analyst to maintain reliable inventory accounting and controls.
  • Review inventory-to-GL reconciliations, cycle count results, physical inventories, inventory adjustments, and variances.
  • Assess inventory valuation, standard costing, purchase price variances, slow-moving and obsolete stock, and reserve analysis.
  • Investigate inventory and margin exposure and recommend documented corrective action.
Audit, Compliance and Internal Controls
  • Coordinate external audit requests, PBC schedules, and responses, ensuring audit-ready supporting documentation.
  • Support SOX and other control requirements, including evidence of review, segregation of duties, and remediation tracking.
  • Identify recurring accounting errors and internal control gaps and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Work within established approval limits and elevate material accounting judgments and exceptions to the Controller.
Tax and Regulatory Reporting
  • Coordinate accounting support for sales and use tax, business licenses, property tax, and applicable Census Bureau and BEA filings.
Leadership, ERP and Process Improvement
  • Provide review, technical guidance, coaching, and close task coordination for assigned accounting personnel.
  • Serve as the delegated day-to-day accounting lead during Controller absences, within defined authorization boundaries.
  • Leverage Oracle ERP, preferably Oracle Fusion, to improve transaction quality, reporting, reconciliations, and close efficiency.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, IT, and Corporate Finance to resolve issues and improve accounting processes.
  • Lead selected process improvements through root cause analysis, implementation, and follow-up.
