Job summary

BMW Group in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, invites a senior financial accountant to lead fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and lease-related activities. You will prepare monthly and annual statements per IFRS and eGAAP, and drive improvements in accounting controls. Hybrid onsite work in the US is supported.

The role requires 5–7 years of experience, SAP Fixed Asset familiarity, and strong communication with cross-functional teams. Eligible for comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• 5–7 years of direct accounting experience with fixed assets.
• Experience with SAP FI and SAP Fixed Asset systems.
• Working knowledge of IFRS.
• Strong communication with cross-functional partners.
• Proficiency in SAP fixed asset modules and ERP systems.
• Solid MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage fixed asset ledger and lease accounting, including depreciation, acquisitions, transfers, disposals, impairments, and revaluations.
• Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts including cost of retail, overheads, intercompany, and cash management.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per IFRS and eGAAP for BMW Group subsidiaries.
• Analyze balance sheet and P&L trends to identify key financial insights at cost center and WBS levels.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, controls, and financial reporting compliance related to asset and lease accounting.
• Collaborate with local/group controlling, tax, facilities, management, and business units on reporting, audits, and planned transactions.
• Drive operational accounting projects and complete regulatory filings for areas under scope.

• Manage fixed asset ledger and lease accounting, including classification, valuation, depreciation, acquisitions, transfers, disposals, impairments, and revaluations.
• Prepare and post journal entries, complete account reconciliations under the areas of general ledger accounting including (i.e. Cost of retail, overheads, intercompany, cash management).
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for BMW Group subsidiaries in accordance with IFRS and eGAAP.
• Analyze balance sheet and profit-and-loss trends and variances to identify key financial insights at the cost center and WBS levels.
• Technical responsibility of maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures, controls, and financial reporting compliance related to asset & lease accounting other areas under scope.
• Proactively collaborate with local and/or group controlling, tax, facilities, management, business units, and other stakeholders on reporting, audits, compliance, and planned transactions.
• Responsible for independently driving operational accounting projects/initiatives and complete required periodic and ad hoc regulatory filings for areas under scope.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 5-7 years of direct accounting experience, fixed asset experience in book depreciation, SAPFI, SAP Fixed Asset System experience.
• Working knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written to both technical and non-technical cross-functional partners.
• Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting modules in SAP or other relevant ERP systems (in example: finance, asset accounting and purchasing modules, etc.)
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (esp. Word, Excel, Power Point).
• Preferences:
  • Basic knowledge of BI Tools (general examples: Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Adaptive, and etc.).
  • International and/or industry experience.

In support of BMW Group’s business objectives, this position requires regular onsite attendance at a BMW office/facility with remote work capability (hybrid).

The expected salary range for this position is $62,500.00 – $125,000.00.

The selected candidate’s education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.
