Job summary

NetBox Labs is seeking an accounting professional who owns core accounting operations, including the month-end close, payables, expenses, reconciliations, and audit readiness. This role emphasizes using AI and automation to make finance more accurate, efficient, and scalable.

You'll partner with the Controller to identify bottlenecks, design AI-powered workflows, automate recurring tasks, and work cross‑functionally with Engineering and other teams to eliminate manual processes while supporting

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a SaaS/startup environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals and high attention to detail.
• Experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) and adapting to new automation tools.
• Finance engineer mindset with scalable process design.
• Experience supporting audits and managing close processes.
• Proficiency with GL/ERP systems (QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Tabs).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-ending close, journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
• Own accounts payable, reimbursements, and corporate card programs with accurate coding and accruals.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations with supporting docs.
• Collaborate with Controller to automate close via AI-powered workflows.
• Evaluate AI/automation solutions and lead implementations.
• Partner with Engineering to identify and connect automation opportunities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and ad-hoc projects.
• Support audit readiness with schedules and auditor coordination.

At NetBox Labs, we're building the future of network automation. We are looking for an accounting professional with a finance engineer's mindset — someone who owns core accounting operations while using AI and automation to make Finance more accurate, efficient, and scalable.

This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership role responsible for the month‑end close, accounts payable, expenses, reconciliations, and audit readiness. You’ll identify manual processes, build practical automations, and partner across the organization to improve how work gets done. Automation is the throughline across everything you do. This role is ideal for someone with deep SaaS experience who takes pride in getting the numbers right.

What You’ll Do

• Own the month‑end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and supporting schedules
• Own accounts payable, employee reimbursements, and corporate card programs, ensuring accurate coding and timely month‑end accruals
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations with clear supporting documentation
• Partner with the Controller to continuously improve and automate the month‑end close by identifying bottlenecks and designing AI‑powered workflows that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
• Evaluate emerging AI, automation, and Finance technology solutions, recommend improvements, and lead implementation where appropriate
• Work cross‑functionally with Engineering and other teams to identify automation opportunities, connect systems, and eliminate manual processes across Finance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and ad‑hoc projects as needed
• Support audit readiness by preparing audit schedules, maintaining documentation, coordinating auditor requests, and helping ensure ongoing compliance.
• Take ownership of ad‑hoc special projects that improve how Finance operates

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including close ownership in a dynamic startup SaaS or startup software environment
• Strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals and high attention to detail
• Proven experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) in your current role and comfort picking up new automation tools quickly (e.g., n8n, Zapier)
• A finance engineer’s mindset: you build scalable processes that reduce work and increase accuracy for all stakeholders
• Strong judgement regarding which activities should be automated and which require human review
• Experience leading or supporting a financial audit
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Rillet, or a similar GL/ERP system
• Experience managing AP, expense, or corporate card programs (Ramp or similar) is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA a plus but not required
