OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the general accounting function, including the inventory and manufacturing subledgers, and providing financial analysis to business leadership. This role records accounting information in the general and subsidiary ledgers in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules, analyzing financial and operational data, and preparing clear explanations for activity trends and variances. The successful candidate will serve as a key partner to the Controller and must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, growing environment with minimal supervision.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Plant Controller during the month-end close process, including preparation of annual financial statements, related support schedules, cost analysis, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Review and validate cost of goods sold, variable manufacturing costs and other production-related costs.
  • Update and maintain standard costs within bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Investigate manufacturing variances and purchase price variances, identifying drivers and supporting corrective actions as needed.
  • Validate stock counts and perform analysis of inventory movements and rotations of raw materials, WIP and finished goods.
  • Review quantity and value of product scrap and losses that result from the operation.
  • Support Operations during the physical inventory count and lead inventory valuation process.
  • Develop, implement, and test accounting procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, and control in the inventory environment.
  • Prepare and process general ledger entries.
  • Support with recurring accounting and financial transactions required for compliance.
  • Maintain internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as stock counts, accounts payable, and related processes.
  • Research, reconcile, and record purchasing activity.
  • Partner with site leaders and operational stakeholders to provide insights into manufacturing performance, inventory management, and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare other ad-hoc analytical reports as requested by management.
  • Ensure the accuracy of technical reporting.
  • Maintain organized and complete supporting documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
WORK EXPERIENCES
  • 3+ years of cost or managerial accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP or a similar ERP system preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field required; professional accounting certification preferred.
  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field is a plus.
  • CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and action-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Intellectually curious, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to identify, own, and resolve issues.
  • Willingness to learn by engaging directly with operations and spending time in a manufacturing environment.
