We are a thriving footwear manufacturing and wholesale company looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. Working directly under the Controller, you will play a critical role in overseeing daily accounting operations, driving the month-end close process, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in inventory accounting, standard costing, and robust cash reconciliation practices to help manage our continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
Cash Management & Bank Reconciliations
  • Lead the daily and monthly bank reconciliation process for all corporate operating, payroll, and merchant accounts, ensuring all cash transactions are accurately posted and matched.
  • Monitor daily cash positions, investigate any unexplained banking variances, unidentified debits/credits, or processing fees, and resolve them promptly.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to ensure proper matching of lockbox deposits, wire transfers, ACH payments, and high-volume wholesale customer deductions.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and record complex journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and intercompany transactions.
  • Perform comprehensive monthly balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining clean and audit-ready workpapers.
  • Assist the Controller in preparing monthly financial reporting packages, variance analyses, and executive summaries.
Inventory & Operations Accounting
  • Lead the month-end inventory reconciliation process, matching ERP sub-ledger balances against third-party logistics (3PL) reports, warehouse management systems (WMS), and physical counts.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, stock variances, and transaction errors (e.g., misrouted shipments, unposted receipts, or duplication).
  • Track and reconcile in-transit inventory (finished goods) coming from overseas factories to ensure accurate cutoffs.
Controls, Audit & Compliance
  • Support the Controller during annual external audits, serving as a primary point of contact for banking and cash-related audit schedules.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over cash handling, bank authorization workflows, financial reporting, and inventory management.
  • Assist with sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Qualifications & Skills
