Overview

An established, employee-owned construction and engineering organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their St. Louis-based finance team. This is a key role supporting the accounting and FP&A functions for one of the company’s operating divisions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of construction or project-based accounting, and the ability to collaborate across departments in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Manage general ledger activity and ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for operational projects.
  • Partner with project managers to review job cost reports and ensure accurate project tracking.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and assist in annual audit preparation.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Provide financial insights and variance analysis to management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction, engineering, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
