Qualifications

Job Overview – Senior Accountant

Compensation: $80,000–$90,000/year

Location: Mercer County, NJ

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Accountant in Mercer County, NJ for our client. This role will support general accounting, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations. The Senior Accountant will maintain accurate financial records, assist with account reconciliations and month‑end close activities, and collaborate with internal teams to support financial accuracy and efficient accounting processes.

Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant:

• General Accounting: Manage general ledger activities, prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Support invoicing, payment processing, collections, and other accounting transactions.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, support month‑end and year‑end close processes, and maintain financial reporting accuracy.
• Account Reconciliations: Review financial transactions, investigate discrepancies, and maintain supporting documentation.
• Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, support audit preparation, and maintain internal financial controls.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting processes, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Experience: 5–8 years of general accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, or related accounting experience is required.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general accounting principles, financial reporting, and month‑end close processes is required.
• Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software or ERP systems are required.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and ability to manage accounting responsibilities independently are required.
