Job summary

RITALKA, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to support accuracy and timely reporting across the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes. You will help ensure internal controls and GAAP compliance within a growing, rural Midwest manufacturing environment.

The role involves close collaboration with management and external accounting professionals, financial reporting, and tax compliance, with opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • CPA or other relevant professional certification desirable.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or other complex operating environments preferred.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, month-end close, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with ERP and financial management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and other financial reports.
  • Manage general ledger entries, reconciliations, accruals, and schedules for multi-entity operations.
  • Analyze variances and investigate discrepancies.
  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable activity and payroll administration.
  • Support cash management and banking reconciliations.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.

Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of the Company's financial information. This position performs and oversees key accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls.

Senior Accountant will work closely with management, accounting staff, business units, and external accounting professionals to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded, reporting deadlines are met, and accounting practices are consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform and support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes
  • Prepare, review, and analyze balance sheets, income statements, cash flow information, and other financial reports
  • Prepare and review general ledger entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules in a multi-entity corporation.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances, unusual transactions, and account discrepancies.
  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable activity.
  • Support the administration and accounting of payroll and related payroll liabilities.
  • Assist with cash management, banking transactions and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation for financial transactions
  • Support multi-state tax and regulatory reporting, including sales and use tax and other applicable state filings.
  • Work with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and other advisors to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules and documentation for annual financial reviews, audits, tax filings, and other external reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accounting practices and financial reporting are performed in accordance with GAAP and established company policies.
  • Develop, document, maintain, and recommend improvements to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify and resolve financial discrepancies through research and analysis of accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management as requested.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of accounting processes, systems, reporting tools, and internal controls.
  • Provide guidance and support to accounting team members and assist with reviewing work as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with employees and management across multiple departments and locations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, employee, and company information.
  • Perform other accounting, financial analysis, and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND STANDARDS:
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify issues, research alternatives, and exercise sound judgment based on accurate and timely financial information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees and management at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established reporting deadlines.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, dependability, and attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and results orientation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using ERP and financial management systems.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a collaborative accounting team.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • CPA or other relevant professional certification is desirable but not required
