Job summary

K2 Space in Los Angeles, CA seeks an experienced accounting professional to lead the month-end close and manage key finance processes including fixed assets, inventory, and revenue/receivables. The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of accounting experience, GAAP proficiency, and hands‑on expertise with ERP systems and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/business.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting experience.
  • Hands-on with accounting software and Excel; capable of transactional and strategic work.
  • Ability to communicate with non‑finance partners clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close to ensure accurate, timely reporting and accelerate close timeline.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations across assets, inventory, and revenue/receivables.
  • Act as accounting resource for operations and technical matters to non‑finance teams.
  • Enhance internal controls across processes and ensure policy adherence.
  • Maintain chart of accounts and proper classification for programs and projects.
  • Participate in ERP implementations and user acceptance testing.
  • Support ad hoc finance activities and liaise with auditors and tax preparers.

Job description

Role Overview

You will lead the month‑end close process and other business processes such as fixed assets, inventory, and revenue and receivables. This role involves working with team members across the organization, enhancing controls throughout business processes, maintaining compliance with company policies and financial regulations, and identifying opportunities to further improve business processes. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, self‑starter, and skilled in leadership and process improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the month‑end close process to ensure complete, accurate, and timely reporting and accelerate the month‑end close timeline.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations across fixed assets, inventory, and revenue & receivables processes and ensure retention of supporting documentation.
  • Serve as an accounting resource for operational and technical matters, clearly communicating requirements to non‑finance partners.
  • Work cross‑functionally across departments on enhancing internal controls throughout business processes and ensure adherence to company policies, including identifying improvements to existing company policies.
  • Enhance and maintain accounting’s chart of accounts and ensure proper coding and classification of transactions amongst customer programs, R&D projects, and G&A.
  • Execute and maintain highly‑quality work to ensure accuracy and completeness of the company’s financial statements.
  • Participate in ERP implementations and UAT as necessary across various accounting and manufacturing systems.
  • Support various ad‑hoc finance and other accounting activities as needed.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax preparers as part of annual financial statement audit and other tax compliance filings, respectively.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft D365, Ramp, Bill.com, MaintainX) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Hands‑on and detail‑oriented, with willingness to handle transactional tasks as well as strategic projects.
  • Ability to multi‑task and prioritize across projects and learn quickly.
  • Excellent written and oral skills for effective communication with internal teams and external contacts.
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience in the aerospace, satellite, manufacturing, telecommunications, or defense industries or high‑velocity start‑up environments.
  • Prior background in public accounting.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Experience utilizing AI tools as part of month‑end close and day‑to‑day accounting activities.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000 + equity in the company.
  • Salary will be based on several factors including, but not limited to: knowledge and skills, education, and experience level.
