Qualifications and Detail about the Position

Summary: This role needs 3-5 years of fixed asset experience in addition to the skillset and experience listed below.

Broad Function

The Senior Accountant is a critical role which oversees and manages the financial activities of the organization. This position is a corporate fixed asset role heavy on policy, impairment, additions, asset transfers and hands‑on fixed assets. In addition, it involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, managing month‑end and year‑end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Promote, demonstrate, and instill Brock’s Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Manage and perform complex reconciliations of general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies
  • Lead the month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
  • Coordinate and review the work of junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather and analyze financial data for budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision‑making
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting processes and systems to streamline operations and improve efficiency
  • Participate in the external audit process, including preparing audit schedules, addressing inquiries, and providing necessary documentation
  • Stay updated on accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices; ensure compliance; and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in special projects, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives as assigned
  • Execute, review, and approve account reconciliations, including medical/dental reserve and insurance (W/C and G/L) reserves
Skills & Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting standards (GAAP or IFRS)
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, provide guidance, and foster professional development
  • Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate accounting or a similar role
  • 3+ years corporate fixed asset role heavy on policy, impairment, additions, asset transfers and hands on Fixed assets.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and experience in financial statement analysis is a plus
  • Hand‑on fixed asset experience
  • Experience in leading month‑end and year‑end closing processes and managing complex reconciliations
