Job summary

Lauterbach & Amen is seeking a Senior Accountant in Glenview, IL to join our Client Accounting & Advisory team and support a government client on-site. This full-time role focuses on accurate financial records, month-end close, and government reporting.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of government accounting, a BA in Accounting, and CPA candidacy; salary range is $80,000–$100,000 with compensation determined by location, experience, and credentials.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of Government/Municipal accounting experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA or actively pursuing a license.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.
• Complete month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjusting entries.
• Perform complex bank and investment account reconciliations, research and resolve discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy of all cash-related transactions.
• Prepare financial reports and assist in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and other government reporting requirements.
• Assist with the preparation for the annual external audit, including compiling schedules, preparing supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
• Monitor budgets and analyze revenues and expenditures.
• Assist with grant reporting, capital asset accounting, and other assigned accounting functions.
• Provide financial support and guidance to other departments and team members.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The anticipated, average salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000, with the final offer determined based on business-related factors such as geographic location, relevant experience, education, skill set, and professional certifications.
