Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Experience preparing financial statements and account reconciliations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close activities and prepare financial statements.
  • Manage general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and analyses.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting; ensure GAAP compliance for healthcare accounting.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, Revenue Cycle, HR, and Leadership to provide financial insights.
  • Monitor balance sheet and income statement accounts; assist with ad hoc analyses.
  • Support audits and ensure strong internal controls and documentation.

The Role

Midwest Express Clinic is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role leads month‑end close activities, prepares accurate financial reporting, and supports budgeting and forecasting while ensuring compliance with GAAP and healthcare accounting standards. The ideal candidate partners closely with Finance, Payroll, Revenue Cycle, Clinical Operations, HR, and Executive Leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision‑making.

What You’ll Own
Financial Reporting & General Ledger
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account analyses
  • Lead assigned portions of the month‑end and year‑end close process while meeting established deadlines
  • Research and resolve account discrepancies and unusual financial variances
  • Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for financial reporting
Financial Analysis
  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Prepare financial analyses and reports for senior leadership
  • Monitor key balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses
Healthcare Accounting
  • Partner with Revenue Cycle, Billing, and Clinical Operations to ensure accurate recording of healthcare revenue
  • Analyze patient revenue, collections, reimbursements, and related financial activity
  • Support reconciliation of insurance reimbursements and revenue recognition processes
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
Payroll & Operational Support
  • Assist with bi‑weekly payroll review, reconciliations, and financial analysis
  • Monitor payroll‑related general ledger activity
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to improve financial workflows and internal controls
Compliance & Audit
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare documentation for internal and external audits
  • Assist with annual financial audits and tax‑related requests
  • Maintain strong internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Support implementation of accounting process improvements and automation initiatives
  • Participate in finance projects related to company growth and acquisitions
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data analysis)
  • Experience preparing financial statements and account reconciliations
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA
  • Healthcare industry accounting experience
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
  • Experience supporting audits and financial planning activities
  • Experience in a multi‑site or high‑growth organization

  • Month‑end and year‑end close is completed accurately and on schedule
  • Financial statements and reporting are reliable enough to drive leadership decisions
  • Healthcare revenue, reimbursements, and payroll activity are accurately reflected in the GL
  • Audits and compliance reviews proceed smoothly with well‑organized documentation
  • Cross‑functional partners view Finance as a responsive, trustworthy partner
Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $80,000–$100,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
