Job summary

Echo Lake Foods, a leading egg products manufacturer, seeks a detail-oriented Senior Accountant in Burlington, WI. The role supports accounting functions, financial analysis, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration within a manufacturing environment.

You will maintain and reconcile the general ledger, perform variance and cost accounting analyses, and support audits, month-end close, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum 4–6 years progressive accounting experience in manufacturing, food production, or distribution preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience with financial reporting, variance analysis, cost accounting, and audit support.
  • Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform variance analysis, cost accounting support, controls review, and data reconciliation.
  • Manage or support Sales, Use, and Payroll tax processes, including timely reporting.
  • Support internal and divisional financial reporting, month-end and year-end closes.
  • Assist with accounts payable/receivable and audit documentation.
  • Prepare schedules for audits and year-end close.Requires participation in system enhancements and process improvement.
  • Provide backup for team members and mentor junior staff.

Position Summary:

Echo Lake Foods is seeking a detail-oriented and success-driven Senior Accountant to support key accounting functions and contribute to the financial strength of the organization. This role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities, financial analysis, compliance support, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts and activities, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with GAAP.
  • Perform variance analysis, cost accounting support, controls review, and financial data reconciliation.
  • Manage or support Sales, Use, and Payroll tax processes, including timely reporting and compliance activities.
  • Support internal and divisional financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation to support annual audits and year-end close requirements.
  • Participate in accounting system enhancements, implementation projects, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide backup support for other accounting team members and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, supporting team development and knowledge sharing.
  • SAP experience preferred
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, food production, or distribution environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience with financial reporting, variance analysis, cost accounting, and audit support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Prior experience in food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, or high-volume production environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variances.
  • Experience supporting system implementations, process automation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • CPA, CMA, or progress toward professional certification is a plus.
