Job summary

Bradford Health Services is seeking a Senior Accountant in Birmingham, AL, to support accurate financial reporting and GAAP compliance. You will manage general ledger activities, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet preparation, while helping optimize accounting systems and processes for data accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities include month-end close, financial statements, and cross-functional budgeting support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and full cycle accounting processes.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, GL entries, balance sheets, fixed assets, month-end processes.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily accounting operations including general ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Perform monthly entries and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts (fixed assets, leases).
• Support preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.
• Support implementation and maintenance of accounting systems to improve efficiency.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end closing; ensure timely reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and participate in audits and process reviews.
• Identify improvements in internal controls.

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to add to our team! The Senior Accountant will be essential for accounting operations to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. This role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of financial data through such things as general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet preparation. They will also be responsible for supporting and optimizing accounting systems and processes to streamline workflows and enhance data accuracy. The successful candidate will be a significant contributor to the corporate accounting team in executing their functions to support informed decision-making and contribute to the organization's financial health and growth.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily accounting operations including general ledger and bank reconciliations
• Perform monthly entries and reconciliations for company balance sheet accounts to include items such as fixed assets and leases
• Support preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles
• Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems to improve efficiency and data integrity
• Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure timely financial reporting
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements by supporting regular audits and process reviews
• Continually assess internal controls and provide suggestions for identified improvements
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and full cycle accounting processes.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and software, including Microsoft Excel.
• Significant experience with bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, balance sheet preparation, fixed asset accounting, and month end processes.
• Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with accounting in the healthcare industry as well as accounting for multi-site facilities
• Proficiency in ERP systems such as Great Plains
• CPA or CPA eligible
• Strong analytical skills with experience in supporting variance analysis and financial forecasting / budgeting
• Excellent communication skills with a track record of demonstrated contributions to the accounting team
