Job summary

NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes in Beloit, Wisconsin, is seeking a Senior Accountant to perform general accounting and financial duties in a fast-growing radiopharmaceutical environment.

The successful candidate will manage the general ledger, fixed assets, month-end close, and assist with audits and tax returns, while supporting ERP system implementations and ASC considerations. A BA/BS in Accounting or Finance and at least four years of GAAP experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and minimum four years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in GAAP principles.
  • Experience with ASC implementation preferred.
  • Immigration sponsorship is not provided for this position; completion of Form I-9 is required on or before first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Research ASC implications and support implementation of updated standards.
  • Prepare technical memos that document accounting issues clearly and concisely.
  • Review and reconcile subsidiary accounts; resolve discrepancies; maintain general ledger.
  • Manage day-to-day treasury activities and cash planning.
  • Analyze financial data and manage financial statement preparation and budget reports.
  • Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes and audits.

Position

Under the direction of the Director, Accounting, the Senior Accountant performs general accounting and finance duties, in accordance with company and established accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Research and assess Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) implications. Support implementation of updated standards.
  • Prepare technical memos that document accounting issues in a clear, concise manner.
  • Review and reconcile subsidiary accounts; resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain general ledger.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedule.
  • Manage day-to-day activities in treasury functions and cash planning.
  • Analyze financial data and manage financial statement preparation and budget reports.
  • Prepare monthly budget to actual reporting.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Assist with annual audits and tax returns.
  • Assist with any implementation, managing, and monitoring of ERP system.
Early Development
  • Develop a strong understanding of the ERP system, chart of accounts, financial reporting structure, and key accounting processes.
  • Develop ownership of the month-end assigned duties with the goal of independently completing responsibilities accurately and within established close deadlines.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within your assigned accounting processes and recommend efficiencies or opportunities for automation.
  • Develop ownership of the fixed asset schedule, including additions, disposals, depreciation, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and minimum four (4) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient in GAAP principles. Proven experience with complex accounting issues.

Experience with ASC implementation preferred. Strong technical accounting experience desired.

Working Conditions

This role may involve working in a controlled cleanroom environment, general office setting, or specific manufacturing areas. Conditions may include:

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, both indoors (heated/air-conditioned spaces) and outdoors
  • Noise levels range from quiet to loud, depending on the work area
  • Specific vision abilities, including near vision, visual acuity, and color discrimination

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and may include:

  • Respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and full protective clothing
  • Compliance with cleanroom gowning protocols (e.g., removal of all jewelry, including piercings)
  • Prohibition of cosmetics, fragrances (perfume, aftershave), and nail products, including polish, artificial nails, or extensions

As a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing site, radiation may be present in the laboratory and production areas. Employees in this role may be required to:

  • Follow strict radiation safety procedures
  • Participate in dosimetry monitoring and bioassay testing as part of the company protocol
  • Inform leadership of any health conditions that may affect product integrity, by cleanroom standards
