Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA, LLC in Sutton, MA seeks a senior Level 3 Machinist to set up, program, and run DMG Mori multi-axis CNC centers producing large, high-precision components. You will lead complex machining operations and develop strategies for efficient production.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, strong GD&T and metrology skills, and a track record of training others. This is a full-time, 3rd shift opportunity with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience, including advanced 5-axis machining.
• Expertise in multi-axis machining and workholding strategies for large, complex parts.
• Ability to interpret complex blueprints and GD&T with multiple datums.
• High competency with precision measurement instruments, including large-feature metrology.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers (vertical and/or horizontal).
• Perform complex machining operations including roughing, finishing, and precision boring.
• Machine large, complex components (over 4,000 lbs) to tight tolerances (±0.0005”).
• Develop and modify CNC programs using conversational and G-code programming, read/interpret G-code/M-code to troubleshoot and optimize toolpaths.
• Collaborate on or independently create machining strategies for complex parts.
• Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T with multiple datums, and perform in-process and final inspections.
• Accurately measure large features (up to 25+ inches) using advanced metrology equipment.
• Train and mentor machinists and operators across multiple work centers, and drive process improvements using lean principles.
