Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc is seeking an Initial Failure Analysis Technician to perform preliminary failure analysis screening on semiconductor devices and support root cause investigations. This role involves hands-on work with advanced laboratory equipment and meticulous documentation.

You will work with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve product issues while maintaining strict safety standards and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the lab environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical diploma in electronics.
• 3+ years of experience in semiconductor industry or related lab environment.
• Proficiency in using laboratory diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial failure analysis on semiconductor devices using optical inspection, electrical testing, and basic non-destructive analysis.
• Operate laboratory equipment such as microscopes, curve tracers, X-ray machines, and other diagnostic tools.
• Document findings and prepare detailed reports with accurate records of procedures and results.
• Support engineering teams by providing timely initial analysis data.
• Maintain laboratory safety standards and proper handling of sensitive materials.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for lab processes and procedures.
