This is a critical role that involves collaboration with various teams to maintain standards and require innovative solutions to optimize performance.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Engineer with experience in semiconductor or cleanroom environments to join our facilities team. The role is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing HVAC systems to support semiconductor manufacturing, ensuring tight control of temperature, humidity, airflow, and air quality in critical environments. You will collaborate closely with process engineers, maintenance staff, and cleanroom personnel to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
Position will start in Tempe AZ, and will transition to Peoria AZ, within 3-6 months.
Design and optimize HVAC systems including air handlers, chillers, boilers, and ductwork for semiconductor cleanrooms (Class 1 to Class 1000).
Ensure environmental control standards for temperature, humidity, and particle count are consistently met across manufacturing zones.
Conduct load calculations, airflow simulations, and system balancing for cleanrooms and critical equipment areas.
Support the installation and commissioning of new HVAC systems and equipment upgrades.
Troubleshoot HVAC system issues to minimize downtime and support 24/7 fab operations.
Collaborate with environmental health and safety (EHS) teams to ensure compliance with ASHRAE, ISO 14644, SEMI standards, and local building codes.
Use Building Management Systems (BMS) and other monitoring tools for performance analysis and preventive maintenance.
Participate in energy conservation efforts and sustainability initiatives.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and maintenance logs.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in HVAC engineering, preferably in a semiconductor, cleanroom, or high-tech manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, air filtration standards, and cleanroom protocols.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or other HVAC modeling software.
Experience with HVAC control systems, including BMS/EMS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Johnson Controls).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-reliability environment.
Familiarity with SEMI S2, ISO 14644, and ASHRAE guidelines.
Experience working in Class 100 or cleaner environments.
LEED or other energy-efficiency certifications.
Primarily in a cleanroom-controlled facility and mechanical spaces.
May require use of PPE and adherence to cleanroom protocols.
Some on-call or off-hour support may be required for system emergencies or critical installations.
