Job summary

Applied Materials in Gloucester, MA is seeking an Engineering Technician to support advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. You will perform electro-mechanical testing, assembly, troubleshooting and system integration on production lines and during installs.

You will work from schematics and technical instructions, maintain documentation, and contribute to process improvements. The role offers shift options with differential pay and opportunities to transition to permanent staff.

Qualifications

• Hands-on manufacturing or production experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum and process systems.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings and engineering documentation.
• Experience with electrical test equipment, meters and diagnostic tools.
• Knowledge of fiber-optic communications.
• Ability to write technical reports and procedures.
• Semiconductor manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform electro-mechanical testing, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and assembly.
• Build and support electronics, electro-mechanical systems, prototype models and specialized test equipment.
• Troubleshoot component-level and system-level electrical and mechanical issues.
• Support new system installs, NPI activities and field upgrades.
• Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts and technical instructions.
• Maintain logbooks, technical documentation and test procedures.
• Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum and process testing.
• Generate quality notifications and complete rework based on test results.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering activities.
