Job summary

AltaGas is seeking a Billing Analyst to manage billing activities for transportation and gas customer programs. The role emphasizes validating daily readings, overseeing PowerSpring, and managing billing systems to support accurate customer invoicing.

You will collaborate across Gas Control, Operations, Marketing and Business Applications to drive process improvements, ensure data integrity, and support SOX/compliance. A strong analytical mindset and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with related technologies/tools and enterprise billing systems.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to work with stakeholders.
• Experience with PowerSpring and billing systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze billing processes to enhance customer experience and improve webPipeline and enQuesta systems.
• Oversee daily readings in PowerSpring and integration with webPipeline.
• Verify billing for usage, rates and special contracts.
• Collaborate with Gas Control, Operations, Marketing and Business Applications to ensure smooth billing operations.
• Drive process improvements and provide project management support for billing-related projects.
• Submit change requests and perform post-deployment testing and QA.
• Support collections and resolve billing disputes with Key Account Executives.
• Assist with regulatory compliance and SOX controls; support audits.
• Analyze billing data and generate regular reports and metrics.
• Compile internal and external data requests.
• Maintain and update policies and procedures for billing areas.
• Schedule daily batch processes including billing and cash uploads.
• Review third-party damage billings and ensure timely revenue recovery.

Position Summary

The Billing Analyst is responsible for the management of billing activities related to Transportation and Gas Customer Choice. This role is pivotal in validating daily readings using PowerSpring along with the management of pool and supplier accounts in SEMCO's gas nomination and billing system. This role is responsible for recommending process enhancements and performing system testing. The Billing Analyst collaborates with various departments to maintain accurate data and billing practices for customer accounts, directly contributing to the company's operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This position is essential for driving process improvements, ensuring system reliability, supporting regulatory compliance, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Billing Process Analysis: Analyze key billing processes to enhance the customer experience and continuously improve the webPipeline and enQuesta billing systems.
• Manage the PowerSpring Application: Oversees daily readings and manage the integration with webPipeline.
• Billing Verification: Verify billing (usage/rates and special charges, including special contracts).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Gas Control, Operations, Marketing and Business Applications to ensure seamless billing operations and address any issues that arise.
• Process Improvement & Project Management: Drive and support process improvements and provide project management support for webPipeline and other customer service-related projects.
• Change Management: Submit new change requests and enhancements to the Business Applications team, drive the requirements, and perform post-deployment testing and quality assurance.
• Collections: Work closely with the Key Account Executives to resolve billing disputes quickly, ensuring that any discrepancies are addressed and corrected.
• Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure all billing activities comply with regulatory requirements and SOX controls. Support internal and external audits as needed.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze billing data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement. Generate regular reports and performance metrics.
• Data Requests: Support and compile internal and external data requests, as required.
• Policy Maintenance: Maintain and update policies and procedures for responsible areas.
• Job Scheduling: Manage daily job scheduling for various batch processes including billing, penalty assessment, cash uploads, etc.)
• Third Party Damage Billings: Review and maintain records associated with third-party damages; ensure timely and accurate billings to support revenue recovery.
• Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related field.
• Without a bachelor’s degree: With a high school diploma or G.E.D., an additional 4 years of the required experience may be substituted; with an associate degree, an additional 2 years of required experience may be substituted.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with related technologies/tools and working knowledge of enterprise financial and billing systems
• Demonstrated strong technical and business background with emphasis on analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to logically analyze and solve business problems.
• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office to share, retrieve, research and present business information.

We offer a competitive salary range of $69,000 to $100,200 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
