Our client is seeking a Semantic Platform Engineer to join their team. As a Semantic Platform Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering organization supporting the Semantic Platform and Data Integration effort. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on RDF/OWL development, strong semantic layer implementation, and the ability to translate business requirements into production‑ready solutions which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title:
Semantic Platform Engineer
Location:
Boston, MA (100% onsite; remote may be considered for strong niche skills)
What's the Job?
- Deploy a reused ontology engine and maintain a single semantic repository shared by partner teams.
- Build and run data pipelines that load resolved data into the repository on Azure alongside existing CBM analytics in Databricks.
- Keep deployments portable using containers and infrastructure as code so the solution can move to another cloud without redesign.
- Expose the graph to diagnostic agents through documented, read‑only query endpoints and measure query performance.
- Treat ontology and mappings as code: version, test (competency questions as SPARQL tests and SHACL conformance), and execute in CI.
What's Needed?
- 4+ years building knowledge graphs, ontologies, or semantic data platforms used in production.
- Hands‑on experience with RDF/RDFS, OWL 2, SPARQL 1.1, and SHACL.
- Strong Python skills (e.g., rdflib, pySHACL or similar), plus git and CI practices.
- Experience deploying and operating an RDF triple store or reasoner (e.g., GraphDB, Stardog, RDFox, Apache Jena/Fuseki).
- Azure experience with containers, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD, including working with Databricks.
What's in it for me?
- Work on an AI‑driven service that turns condition‑based maintenance analytics into normalized health scores, contextual diagnostics, and prioritized action plans for critical data center power equipment.
- Build semantic layers that provide diagnostic agents with the asset and relationship context they need (connections, dependencies, and site placement).
- Deliver production‑ready semantic solutions with minimal ramp‑up time in a focused, execution‑driven environment.
- Own end‑to‑end implementation details: pipelines, repository deployment, query endpoints, testing, and documentation.
- Contribute to a code‑driven ontology workflow with CI testing using competency questions and SHACL conformance.
