Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers in Los Angeles is seeking a Structural Engineer to contribute to civic, healthcare, residential, and laboratory projects. You will perform structural analysis, seismic design, and produce permit-ready documents while collaborating across disciplines and mentoring junior staff.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with structural emphasis and an EIT; California licensing is preferred.

Qualifications

  • One year of full-time work experience as an engineer in a structural consulting organization.
  • BS in Civil Engineering (Structures emphasis).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate coursework.
  • Transcripts showing Structural Analysis, Mechanics of Materials, Concrete, Steel or Wood Design.
  • EIT required.

Responsibilities

  • Design gravity, lateral, and foundation systems for new buildings and retrofit projects in high seismic zones.
  • Perform structural analysis and seismic design using ETABS, RISA, SAFE, and RAM Steel.
  • Design main building systems and secondary systems including anchorage, bracing, partitions, and retaining walls.
  • Analyze concrete, steel, and masonry using hand calculations and Enercalc/spCol per ACI 318, AISC 360, TMS 402/602.
  • Produce calculation packages, drawings, and details for permit and construction.
  • Support Construction Administration activities including submittals, RFIs, and drawing development.
  • Collaborate with BIM to maintain drawing standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other disciplines for integrated delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior engineers.
  • Supervise design engineers in construction administration tasks and ensure QC.
