Job summary

Little Leaf Farms is seeking a Seeding Lead to supervise seedling operations, oversee seeding machine operators, and coordinate with production plans to ensure a quality product arrives on time.

You will manage seeding equipment, monitor germination and plate movements, keep records, and train team members while maintaining a clean, safe work area. Weekend availability is required in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience leading seeding machine operators
• Ability to train new or existing seeding operators
• Ability to train new staff and communicate with maintenance
• Weekend availability required
• Proficient with basic computer tasks and record-keeping
• Bi-lingual preferred but not required
• Lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods

Responsibilities

• Seed placement on trays and beds
• Monitor seed loss and waste
• Maintain proper soil moisture levels
• Keep equipment and area clean for food safety
• Keep gutters clean and debris-free
• Maintain seeding equipment in good working condition
• Attend to detail in daily tasks
• Liaise with maintenance for equipment issues
• Communicate with the seeding supervisor
• Submit end-of-day shift report
• Manage plate movements in germination boxes
• Coordinate movements to grow lines
• Update seeding/movement information board
• Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor

Description

The Seeding Lead is one of the most critical members of our growing team. Their role supports producing a quality product on time for our customers by overseeing the seeding machine operators, seeding machines, automation system for plate movements, seed germination and cleaning in coordination with production plans

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Seed placement
• Keeping track of seed loss
• Maintaining proper soil moisture
• Quality - Support Food Safety by always ensuring cleanliness of the equipment and area
• Check that the gutters are always clean
• Maintain the equipment in good running condition
• Pay attention to the details
• Point of contact for all support areas, work with Maintenance technicians on equipment problems
• Communication with the seeding supervisor
• Sending end-of-day report at the end of each shift
• Managing plate movements in the germination box
• Managing movements to the grow lines above
• Keep the seeding/movement information board updated
• Any other jobs as required by the direct supervisor
