Job summary

Texas A&M AgriLife Research in Vernon, TX is seeking a Research Technician I to perform entry level, semi-skilled technical support in seed production. Under supervision, you will assist in harvesting, cleaning, bagging seed and supporting field operations.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of related experience, familiarity with farm work and field equipment, a valid Texas driver’s license, and the ability to work with others.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of related experience.
• Familiarity with farm work and field equipment.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must be able to perform field, greenhouse and nursery work with plants.

Responsibilities

• Perform or assist in the harvest, transport, storage, conditioning, and distribution of seed. Travel as required.
• Assist in the evaluation of production fields and rogueing for contaminants to meet quality standards.
• Assist in estimating needs, procurement and maintenance of stocks and materials.
• Perform the repair, maintenance or modification of machinery and equipment.
• Maintain records such as vehicle mileage, seed inventory, and maintenance logs.
• Assist in training part-time employees in seed production and conditioning.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
