Job summary

Memorial Health System is seeking a Security Training Program Manager to design, implement, and evaluate enterprise-wide security training programs. You will lead a standardized Security Training Academy, coordinate onboarding, and ensure competency validation across Memorial Health’s sites.

The role collaborates with security leadership and clinical teams to deliver high-quality training that supports a safe, compliant healthcare environment, while aligning with performance excellence standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Education, Organizational Development, Healthcare Administration, or related field is required; experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Professional certification in training, learning and development, or instructional design preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire required.
  • Valid Driver's License with 5 years driving experience and MVR approval per MH Fleet Safety Program.

Overview

The Security Training Program Manager is responsible for the strategic design, development, implementation, and evaluation of enterprise-wide security training programs across the health system. This role leads a standardized Security Training Academy, coordinates onboarding and ongoing competency validation, and ensures alignment with healthcare security best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational priorities. The Manager partners with security leadership and site-based teams to ensure consistent, high-quality training delivery that supports a safe and secure environment across Memorial Health. Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Quality, Integrity, and Stewardship.

Responsibilities
  1. Provides functional guidance to trainers and subject matter experts in developing, implementing, and continuously enhancing enterprise-wide security training programs that build employee awareness, capability, and confidence in maintaining a secure work environment.
  2. Designs and manages a standardized Security Training Academy, including curriculum, scheduling, delivery, and evaluation.
  3. Develops and maintains training curriculum aligned with healthcare security best practices, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Ensure compliance with all training-related regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  5. Establishes and monitors competency requirements for security roles and ensures validation through assessments and evaluations.
  6. Evaluates training effectiveness through performance metrics, feedback, and outcomes; implements improvements as needed.
  7. Coordinates onboarding for new security colleagues, including transition from academy to site-specific orientation.
  8. Oversee training documentation, records management, and reporting to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
  9. Provides functional guidance and coordination for training staff or subject matter experts responsible for specialized training delivery.
  10. Collaborates with security leadership, clinical leaders, HR, and other stakeholders to identify training needs and align programs with organizational goals.
  11. Supports the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards related to security training and competencies.
  12. Participates in planning and resource allocation for training programs and initiatives.
  13. Serves as a subject matter expert on security training, best practices, and emerging trends in healthcare security.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Education, Organizational Development, Healthcare Administration, or related field is required; experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Professional certification in training, learning and development, or instructional design (e.g., Association for Talent Development (ATD) CPTD, APTD, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, or any state equivalent certifying body, as a certified trainer, recommended for candidates with a Law Enforcement background.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire required.
  • Valid Driver's License, must have 5 years of driving experience, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must be approved in accordance with the MH Fleet Safety Program.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in training, education, or staff development required.
  • Previous leadership or program management experience required.
  • Experience in healthcare or regulated environment is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training programs, curriculum design, and competency assessment.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Ability to develop and maintain training records, track compliance, and analyze training metrics.
  • Knowledge of healthcare security practices, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to adapt training to evolving risks and operational needs.
