Job summary

Integrated Protection Services Inc. is seeking a Security Technician to install project-specific devices to fire alarm, building, and electrical codes. You will mentor and train entry-level technicians on site while coordinating with the project manager and other trades.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • 3–5 years of entry level technician or related industry experience.
  • OSHA-10 hour certification.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus.
  • Customer service skills for internal and external customers.
  • Willingness to travel and work after hours as needed.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with codes.

Responsibilities

  • Install project devices per building, fire and electrical codes.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Security Technician is responsible for installing project specific devices to the standards of all fire alarm, building and electrical codes. The installation technician will also mentor, train and coach the entry level technician who assists them on jobsites.Essential FunctionsMust be able to bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb ladders both caged and un-caged as well as stairs and other equipment.Required to stand and walkMaximum unassisted lift = 75lbsMust be able to safely drive company owned vehicle or personal vehicle for the purpose of IPS business.Use computers, laptops, and specialized interface and/or programming software to program and set up security, access, CCTV, nurse call, or sound systems and associated devicesHave manufacturer certifications pertaining to systems being programmedCoordinate with assigned project manager and/or other trades for completing projects and work orders efficiently and on timeMonitor the installation work of outside contractors for ensuring that the projects are satisfactory completed to state and local codes, regulations, and project specificsTroubleshoot and diagnose causes of system problems or failures in systems and identify equipment and/or system requiring repairPerform regular system inspections including evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventative maintenanceAnalyze blue prints and drawingsInstall project specific cabling or piping per specifications and applicable building, electrical, and fire alarm codesInstall project specific devices including Fire, Suppression, CCTV, Intrusion, Access, Nurse Call, etc. per specifications and applicable building, electrical, and fire alarm codesMust be able to “fish” walls and run EMT and PVC conduit for basic applicationsMust be able to coach, mentor and train entry level techniciansMaintain assigned tools, vehicle and equipmentFollow company mandated safety policiesCommunicate with others verbally and in writingWork off lifts of all sizes and heights, and obtain lift certificationUse and understand company software for completion of service tickets, logging time, and obtaining job specific informationObtain and Maintain necessary licenses and certificationAttend job specific training sessionWilling to work after normal business hours and weekendsPeriodically travel out of normal service area when necessaryWilling to learn new products and servicesAttend manufacturer and company specified training programsMust demonstrate a high degree of integrity and honestyMust have a demeanor to tolerate a variety of customer personalitiesMust demonstrate excellent people skillsMust demonstrate excellent organizations skillsMust be able to occasionally travel out of townRequired QualificationsHigh school diplomaMust have 3-5 years of experience as an entry level technician or related industry experienceOSHA-10 hour certificationMust be efficient and productive in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to navigate company software, enter data, and send communication.
