Position Overview
We are seeking a Security Systems Engineer 3 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. The SES Strategic Business Unit focuses on designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining electronic security services—including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, and perimeter defense—for federal, local, and commercial customers across high‑growth markets.
Responsibilities
As a Security Systems Engineer 3, you are a subject‑matter expert in evaluating technologies to improve customers’ physical security postures. You will quickly and thoroughly understand customers’ needs and translate them into system designs, define system adoption plans that can be deployed at scale for global systems, and serve as a primary technical liaison for vendor product teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identify candidate technologies and solutions based on customers’ needs and requirements.
- Evaluate existing and new solutions against defined requirements and industry best practices.
- Design, sustain, and provide technical support for deployed security systems.
- Develop procedures to validate system configuration, data input and data migration. Ensure high data quality ingestion in new and existing systems. Develop test plans, deployment plans, and administration procedures.
- Write high‑quality documentation for system standards and operations.
- Provide training on newly deployed security systems to cross‑functional teams, including the development of training documentation, videos, and other tools.
- Identify limitations and propose improvements for deployed security systems.
- Work with internal teams to assess and resolve privacy, network security, and scalability concerns for the systems.
- Collaborate with installation, deployment, administration and other cross‑functional teams to define standards, provide recommendations and guidance on solution deployments, resolve issues, and improve systems’ features.
- Continually re‑evaluate the systems to ensure they are still effective and actively assess how new technology developments or changes in the environment may require new solutions.
- Act as subject‑matter expert on security engineering needs and requirements for system performance, installations, and sustainment programs and provide recommended improvements per industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Systems Innovation: Research and evaluate security hardware, including access control boards, intrusion detection systems, and camera management systems (CCure, Software House, Axis, Bosch, HID, etc.).
- Hardware Testing: Lead testing projects in the lab, including OSDP implementation and support, rack security solutions, and access control hardware/software testing.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain technical guides, such as admin configuration guides and hardware upgrade guides.
- Environment Management: Support the configuration of CCure 9000 lab environments, including MAS and SAS licensing and architecture.
- Project Support: Coordinate with technical project managers to gather requirements for future projects and enter tasks into tracking systems like Asana.
- Product Research: Research and develop on new system manufacturers (i.e., access control, intrusion detection and closed‑circuit television systems).
Highly Qualified Candidates Should Demonstrate
- Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems and applications such as CCURE, Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis, 2N, Geutebruck, and/or others. In‑depth knowledge of system operation, flaws, and improvement opportunities.
