Job summary

Bryan Health is seeking a Security Supervisor to oversee security officers at both Bryan East and West campuses. The role includes direct supervision, on-the-job training, and ensuring full post coverage across shifts to protect patients, visitors, staff and providers.

You will report incidents, monitor performance, and maintain a professional safety environment. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice or related field and has at least 2 years of healthcare security leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Two (2) years of leadership experience in a healthcare or other related security setting required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise hospital security officers and shift leads on Bryan East and West campuses.
  • Train hospital security staff and review post orders.
  • Ensure proper staffing between shifts and incident reporting.
  • Respond to security/medical assist calls and de-escalate disturbances.
  • Hire, train, supervise, coach and evaluate staff.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supervising the activities of the hospital security officers on Bryan East and West campuses, to include oversight of hospital security operations, direct supervision and on-the job training of hospital security officers and shift leads, and ensuring full coverage of posts on their assigned campus. This role will identify and report incidents, direct and monitor performance of hospital security officers in a friendly and professional manner, and ensure the safety of patients, visitors, staff, and providers.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  3. Participates in and/or leads meetings, committees, strategic planning and lean projects as assigned.

  5. Assist in the training of hospital security officers and review post orders.

  6. Ensure proper staffing between different assigned shifts.

  7. Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity.

  8. Responds to calls for a variety of services to include but not limited to: escorts, property pickup, disturbances, and security/medical assist calls.

  9. Serve as a point of escalation for Hospital Security staff as it pertains to verbally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed; direct persons causing a disturbance to exit the property in a calm and respectful manner.

  10. *Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating of staff.

  11. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Maintains competency as required for the department including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.

  2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

  3. Knowledge of all medical center facilities and services, locations and assigned personnel.

  15. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or another related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Two (2) years of leadership experience in a healthcare or other related security setting required.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Completion of Management of Assaultive Behaviors training within six (6) months of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
