Job summary

Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York is seeking a Security Supervisor to oversee Security Officers and ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. You will patrol the grounds, monitor surveillance, inspect access points, and coordinate with Security Managers and other hospital departments to respond to incidents and maintain a secure environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma; Associate degree in Criminal Justice or Computers preferred.
• Experience: Prior security or law enforcement in healthcare preferred.
• Training/Certification: CPR/First Aid preferred
• Licensure: DMV Driver’s License and NY State Security Officer’s License required.
• Other: Must have strong leadership and good judgement.

A. Job Summary: Supervises Security Officers in addition to performing duties of the Security Officer such as securing the premises and personnel by patrolling the property; monitors surveillance equipment, inspects buildings, equipment and access points. Prevents losses and damages by observing, detecting and reporting irregularities. Communicates and works closely with Security Managers and all other departments in the coordination of departmental activities and requests.

B. Essential Job Qualifications

1. Education: High School Diploma, Associates degree in Criminal Justice or Computers preferred.

2. Experience: Previous experience in law enforcement, Fireman or Security Supervision in a Health Care Facility preferred.

3. Training/Certification: CPR/First Aid preferred

4. Licensure: DMV Driver’s License required, NY State Security Officer’s License required.

5. Other: Must have demonstrated strong leadership qualities. Ability to relate well to all types of people and act in a positive and supportive manner. Reacts in a flexible manner under unusual circumstances, which may alter normal routines. Demonstrates good judgement and common sense.

D. Environment and Demands

1. Environmental Demands: Works in a hospital environment with patient contact and must take precautions for infectious diseases. Must work outdoors during inclement weather.

2. Essential Physical and Cognitive Demands, Manual Dexterity: On average standing 6 hours per day; stands and walks; bends to assist with lifting patients and assisting Funeral Directors in the morgue with the deceased. May be required at times to restrain a patient.

1. Reports to Security Manager for overall job performance. Works with all members and staff from he hospital as well as the Security department.

2. Schedules staff and covers vacant positions due to no-shows, vacation, holiday, sick time and any other emergencies that may develop that require immediate coverage.

3. Courteous, pleasant, and helpful to the general public and Hospital staff. Must be able to handle some tasks not necessarily security related.

4. Conducts training exercises for fire drills, code pink and code gray alarms.

5. Assures compliance with all hospital and security department policies and procedures.
