Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma and three years of experience in fire prevention, safety or security activities.
• Certification by the Department of Public Safety, in accordance with Section 23‑6‑430 of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas diligently, giving particular attention to and often rechecking those locations where problems have been frequent.
• Responds punctually to all assignments and immediately to all emergencies.
• Monitors alarms and CCTV (closed circuit television).
• Performs duty of Public Safety Officer (non‑arrest powers), assists supervisory personnel in peace and decorum in building and on grounds.
• Operates two‑way radio and responds per the direction of dispatcher.
• Courteously assists all persons seeking directions, information or assistance.
