Job summary

NASA Headquarters seeks a Senior Security Specialist and principal advisor to the Center Chief of Protective Services (CCPS). Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating security operations and incident response with law enforcement or interagency partners.

Job description

Serves as Senior Security Specialist and principal advisor to the Center Chief of Protective Services (CCPS) at Headquarters, exercising delegated authority to plan, direct, and evaluate multidisciplinary security programs; resolve complex issues; interpret policy; and advise senior leadership on risks, threats, and mitigation impacting mission assurance and workforce security. Conducts surveillance of security contractors and serves as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) or alternate. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing multi-disciplinary security programs (physical, personnel, investigations, and operations) across geographically separated facilities; identifying threats and vulnerabilities; implementing established risk-based mitigation strategies; or ensuring compliance with federal and agency security policies while supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Supporting leadership by providing analysis and guidance on security posture, emerging threats, or incident response activities;
  • Evaluating complex security issues, assisting in the interpretation and application of policy, or developing recommendations that inform program activities and contribute to resource or organizational risk management considerations under the direction of senior security officials; and
  • Supporting security operations or incident response activities; assisting with coordination involving law enforcement or interagency partners; helping conduct investigations or inquiries; contributing to damage assessments; or assisting in the implementation of corrective actions to protect personnel, facilities, and sensitive assets.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing multi-disciplinary security programs (physical, personnel, investigations, and operations) across geographically separated facilities; assessing threats and vulnerabilities; implementing risk-based mitigation strategies; and ensuring compliance with Federal and agency security policies while supporting mission-critical operations;
  • Serving as a senior advisor to leadership on security posture, emerging threats, or incident response; analyzing complex security issues; interpreting and adapting policy; or developing recommendations that influence program direction, resource allocation, or organizational risk management decisions.
  • Directing or overseeing security operations and incident response activities; coordinating with law enforcement and interagency partners; leading investigations or inquiries; conducting damage assessments; and implementing corrective actions to protect personnel, facilities, and sensitive assets.
