Defense Innovation Unit is seeking a Federal Civilian Security Specialist to oversee a multi-discipline security portfolio, focusing on Personnel Security and SCI indoctrination, OPSEC, Physical Security for SCIFs, and industrial security contract management. The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is a Department of War (DoW) organization focused exclusively on accelerating the adoption of commercial technology throughout the military and growing the national security innovation base. As the Department’s gateway to leading technology companies across the country, DIU is focused on rapid prototyping, fielding, and scaling of commercial solutions that can save lives, lead to new operational concepts, increase efficiency, and save taxpayer dollars.
DIU has a variety of missions which bring academic and private sector solutions to national security problems. To accomplish this mission, we seek a wide variety of backgrounds including military experience, high technology product development and leadership, operations expertise, and general program management experience.
Serves as a subject matter expert overseeing a comprehensive multi-discipline security portfolio, with a primary focus on managing the Personnel Security program and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrination processes. The incumbent provides expert oversight for Critical Access Programs, including Operations Security (OPSEC) in compliance with DoD directives, Physical Security for SCIFs and classified storage, and Industrial Security contract management. Additionally, the specialist serves as the Alternate Continuity of Operations (COOP) Program Manager and the DIU Site Security Control Officer (SSCO), responsible for conducting senior-level briefings, performing security inspections, and managing technical access systems such as DISS and SIPRNet to ensure the protection of Department of War assets and mission continuity. Serves as a Trusted Agent, and performs duties as a Defense Information System for Security (DISS) among other security roles and functions.
