Job summary

Job description

Overview

Security Specialist position within Qualcomm Incorporated, Facilities & Security Group > Security.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair security systems including alarms, surveillance cameras, and access control devices.
  • Conduct site surveys to determine optimal placement of system components.
  • Configure and program system hardware and software according to department needs.
  • Test and adjust system components to ensure proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, wiring, and software issues.
  • Install and maintain low voltage wiring, electronic locks, card readers, CCTV cameras, and related equipment.
  • Document all work, including installation, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and perform immediate repairs when needed.
  • Evaluate existing systems and recommend upgrades or modifications.
Level of Responsibility
  • Works under supervision.
  • Decision-making affects direct area of work and/or work group.
  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information.
  • Tasks consist of a limited number of steps and can be referenced using directions or manuals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of Security or related work experience.
  • OR Associate's degree and 3+ years of Security or related work experience.
  • OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of Security or related work experience.
  • Completed advanced degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year (Master’s = one year) of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of CCTV, access control, intrusion alarms, and related systems.
  • Proficiency with low voltage electrical systems and wiring.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Solid troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure as it relates to security systems.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass background checks due to the sensitive nature of security work.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: $32.70 - $49.04 per hour. This range reflects minimum to maximum pay for this job code/location. Salary is one component of total compensation, which also includes a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual RSU grants.
