Job description

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and meticulous professional to join our security team as a Junior Security Specialist. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the security infrastructure for Special Access Programs (SAPs). The successful candidate will assist a Contractor SAP Security Officer (CSSO) with safeguarding sensitive program information by executing and supporting the day-to-day functions of the SAP security programs. This position offers a significant opportunity for professional growth in the specialized field of SAP security and is critical to maintaining our commitment to national security and compliance with government and corporate directives.

Responsibilities

Security Specialist will provide essential support across a range of security functions, including:

  • Assist in the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of comprehensive security protocols for Special Access Programs (SAPs) in strict accordance with DoD Manual 5205.07 and other relevant government regulations.
  • Support the development, coordination, and enforcement of facility and program-specific SAP Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring they remain current and aligned with overarching guidance from the USMC SAP Central Office (SAPCO).
  • Assist in the execution of the Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) program, including the administration of initial security briefings, annual refresher training, and event‑driven training for all SAP‑accessed personnel.
  • Support the management of physical and logical access control systems for SAP facilities (SAPFs). This includes managing visitor control and escort procedures, and verifying personnel clearances and SAP access eligibility using designated systems of record (e.g., DISS, JADE or its successor).
  • Assist in the accountability and control of all SAP‑classified materials. Responsibilities include managing the receipt, distribution, reproduction, and proper destruction of materials, and supporting the execution of annual inventories as mandated.
  • Actively participate in preparing for and supporting internal self‑inspections and external SAP Security Compliance Inspections. Assist in documenting findings and tracking the implementation of corrective action plans to resolve any identified deficiencies.
  • Assist in conducting periodic inspections of facilities to ensure continuous compliance with the stringent physical security standards required for SAPFs and SCIFs, as defined by ICD 705 and other governing directives.
  • Support the security incident reporting and initial inquiry process for all security infractions, and violations, ensuring prompt and accurate reporting to the government Program Security Officer (PSO) or other designated security authority.
  • Maintain meticulous and audit‑ready records for personnel security files, SAP access rosters, visit certifications, and other critical SAP documentation.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in DoW and/or IC security, with at least 1 year of direct, hands‑on experience working within a Special Access Program environment.
  • A high school diploma. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience. Completion of foundational CDSE/STEPP security training is required; SAP‑related training is highly desirable.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligible and willing to consent to a CI Polygraph.
  • Working knowledge of SAP security policies and procedures is required. Proficiency with the Defense Information System for Security (DISS), Joint Access Database Environment (JADE) and other security management software is also necessary.
  • Proficient in various types of information technology applications, such as Microsoft Office (MS Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint), SharePoint and Adobe.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail are required. The ideal candidate will also have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, high‑security environment.
