This position is an NH-0080-03 (001287451M) which has a typical 2026 salary range of $90,925 - $127,568. The primary purpose of this announcement is to fill a multi-disciplinary Security Specialist position supporting AFNWC/NC. In this role, you will implement and integrate the DAF Security Enterprise (DAFSE) framework across Information, Physical, Operational, Industrial, Personnel, SCI, and Special Access Programs (SAP). As a subject matter expert, you will provide critical advice, oversight, and integration for Center, Directorate, and Program Office activities, ensuring the protection of highly sensitive, mission-critical acquisition and operational assets. DUTIES: 1. Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of the DAF Security Enterprise, including personnel, industrial, information, and physical security, to effectively implement and manage integrated security programs. 2. Knowledge of governing security directives, regulations, and instructions from DoD, DAF, and other national-level agencies to ensure program compliance and oversight. 3. Ability to analyze, evaluate, and develop security programs and policies that mitigate threats, reduce vulnerabilities, and meet mission requirements across a wide spectrum of security disciplines (e.g., SAP, SCI, OPSEC, C-InTP, Cybersecurity). 4. Skill in communicating complex security concepts and requirements clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and external partners. 5. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders across various organizations, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve security objectives. 6. Knowledge of risk management principles and cost-analysis techniques to assess security programs, identify priorities, and recommend effective solutions that balance security needs with operational and mission requirements. SKILLS:
  • Geographically Separated Operations & Autonomy (Highly Desired): Demonstrated ability to operate effectively at a geographically separated location from primary leadership (Hanscom). The candidate must possess exceptional self-reliance, assertiveness, and the tenacity to execute daily duties independently while maintaining seamless alignment with the central directorate.
  • Proactive Remote Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required to effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Must demonstrate the ability to bridge geographical gaps, ensuring uninterrupted support, visibility, and collaboration without the benefit of daily, in-person supervision.
  • Technical & Operational Background: A broad technical background with related Air Force operational and acquisitions experience is desired, specifically including experience in operations, research, analysis, and developmental planning.
  • Advanced Problem Solving: Application of critical thinking skills, risk management, configuration management, and decision analysis to solve complex, multi-disciplinary security challenges through innovative approaches. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION (not all-inclusive):
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must be eligible and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience with multiple security disciplines and demonstrate expertise in security program management.
  • Knowledge of government contractual practices and requirements for development and purchase of Air Force acquisition programs and/or supporting programs/projects is required; familiarity with Defense Industrial Base security organization, operations, and management practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge in program protection, physical, system, information, industrial, personnel, communication, and operations security concepts, principles, and practices with collateral, and SCI programs and able to plan, implement, and integrate security programs in these areas is highly desired.
  • Extensive knowledge of Air Force Acquisition Enterprise missions, functions, and structure to ensure effective implementation of oversight of security program concepts, principles, and practices is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze, and evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for assigned area is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, are mandatory.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with leadership, coworkers, and customers, contribute to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission is required.
  • Knowledge of nuclear system military standards and governing documents is highly desirable.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employees must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre‑employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • This position may require up to 10% travel.
  • "Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification and AFI 36-2645, Security Professional Certification and Development. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/OCS) or their delegated security career field representative."
