State-of-South-Carolina is seeking a Security Specialist III to safeguard McEntire Joint National Guard Base and its resources. The role requires vigilance against unauthorized entry and rapid response to emergencies on site.

The position calls for a high school diploma or GED, 18+ age, and may require prior security experience, medical screening, and maintaining a secret clearance. Driver’s license and ongoing training in firearms and agility are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Prior law enforcement and security related experience preferred.
• Must meet medical screening requirements as identified in OI 31-122, Security Specialist III Operating Instruction.
• Obtain and maintain State and Military Driver’s License.
• Meet annual physical agility standards as well as weapons qualification and training requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Responsible for the performance of security duties to prevent the entrance of unauthorized personnel onto McEntire Joint National Guard Base. Protects the base in espionage, sabotage, thefts, pilferage and other acts detrimental to safeguarding the resources and materials located therein. Handles emergency situation as appropriate. Shift work is required with the possibility of routing shifts as well as weekends.

Employee is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance in order to perform all of the Security Specialist III duties. Successful completion of required training and certification as determined by the agency. Knowledge of the practices and techniques of safety, security, and fire protection. Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergencies. Ability to respond effectively to accidents, disturbances, and violations. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the general public. Ability to qualify and maintain firearms qualification. Must be able to perform their duties with the minimum amount of supervision and guidance. Must be able to make immediate rational decisions and take appropriate action on their initiative. Must be mentally and physically fit to perform assigned duties.
