Join Microsoft’s US Public Sector Industries DIB Team—where mission meets innovation. The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Operating Unit (OU) is a newly formed team with a bold mission: to consolidate, simplify, and accelerate Microsoft’s presence across the DIB landscape. This expansive network includes over 100,000 organizations specializing in manufacturing, aviation, cybersecurity, and more—all united in their support of all Federal Agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense and other mission‑based intelligence and civilian organizations. The DIB OU will directly manage and accelerate strategic and major DIB accounts across Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) Americas, while also enabling Defense Innovation growth across other OUs. We are looking for a Security Solution Engineer with a drive to help solve complex security challenges for our customers, enabling them to modernize their security architecture and posture. As a Security Solution Engineer (SE), you will play a pivotal role in driving security across every stage of the development lifecycle. This opportunity will allow you to accelerate your career growth, develop deep business acumen, hone your technical skills, and become adept at solution design and deployment. As a trusted technical advisor, you’ll guide customers through secure, scalable solution design, influence technical decisions, and accelerate AI applications and agents into their development workflows. You will help customers improve their security, modernize their applications leveraging AI, and realize the full value of Microsoft’s platform.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical sales with decision makers using demos and PoCs to influence solution design and enable production deployments.
• Lead hands‑on engagements—hackathons, code‑with sessions, and architecture workshops—to accelerate adoption of Microsoft’s developer tools and cloud platforms.
• Build trusted relationships with developers and platform leads, co‑designing secure, scalable architectures and solutions.
• Resolve technical blockers and objections, collaborating with engineering to share insights and improve products.
• Maintain deep technical understanding of cloud security architectures, solutions and technologies including Microsoft M365 Defender, Defender for Cloud and Sentinel.
• Develop strategies and recommendations to improve the client’s security posture, shape technical win plans and tailor Microsoft messaging to audiences for security opportunities. Enhance team capabilities for extended detection and response (XDR), zero‑trust and cloud security and develop differentiated competitive strategies for Microsoft Security for assigned customers.
• Represent Microsoft through thought leadership in developer communities and customer forums.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years of technical pre‑sales or technical consulting experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years of technical pre‑sales or technical consulting experience.
• 5+ years of technical pre‑sales or technical consulting experience.
• Equivalent experience.
• Experience designing and implementing Information Security, Privacy and Information Governance solutions leveraging Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Priva and Microsoft Purview offerings or other DIB industry‑aligned security and governance platforms.
• Working knowledge and demonstrated skill implementing solutions across the Security Development Lifecycle and integrating security principles, patterns and practices into the DevOps lifecycle in an enterprise environment.
• Working knowledge and application of Zero Trust Principles, Patterns and Practices, Security Threat Modeling and Mitigation, Security Posture Management, and Device and Workload Protection in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with Microsoft security solutions (M365 Defender, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel) or related technologies such as Prisma Cloud, Crowdstrike, Proofpoint, Splunk, etc.

Other Requirements

• Cloud screening: Candidates must successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required cloud screenings are administered on a recurring bi‑annual basis.
• Microsoft is unable to sponsor a work visa for this role.
• Citizenship verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship. Verification will be performed using a valid passport or other approved documents.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Security Clearance.
• Proven ability to lead technical engagements (e.g., hackathons, PoCs, MVPs) that drive production‑scale outcomes.
• 6+ years of technical pre‑sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery experience.
• 4+ years of experience with cloud and hybrid, or on‑premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and technology management.
• Certification in relevant technologies or disciplines (e.g., Office 365, Power BI, Azure Architect and Development exams, Cloud Platform Technologies, Information Security, Architecture).

Security Solution Engineer IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 – $203,600 per year. Certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metro area, have a higher range of USD $137,600 – $222,600 per year.
