Job summary

Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen is seeking a Security Supervisor to oversee daily security operations, supervise guards, and coordinate incident responses to maintain a safe environment. The role involves evaluating performance, managing shift coverage, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

The position requires a minimum of 3 years in security or related fields, an Associate degree or equivalent, and state licensure/certification.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military discipline.
• Valid state driver’s license and licensure/certification as required by state.
• AHA BLS and CPI certifications desirable or required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise security personnel and monitor weekly guard schedules.
• Investigate campus security incidents and prepare reports.
• Respond to medical emergencies and fire alarms; direct security personnel as needed.
• Coordinate shift drills and ensure preparedness across posts.
• Act as Incident Commander during crises and oversee post assignments.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the shift supervision and monitoring of security personnel engaged in the duty of providing a secure environment. These duties include, but are not limited to, the daily operations of security, and assist in the coordination of the integrity and proper functioning of all physical security systems during their assigned shifts.

Responsibilities

Assists in the setup of weekly guard schedule; monitor assignment of overtime; initiate needed changes to cover unscheduled absences. Supervise subordinates so they perform their functions effectively. Evaluate and document subordinate’s performance. Investigate campus security incidents; prepare appropriate reports and/or reviews and oversees corrections to subordinate’s incident reports. Interpret applicable policies and procedures based on existing circumstances. Watches for, and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility, and safety hazards, and emergenciesie. Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators/ approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate. Quickly identify potential negative situations, implements effective countermeasures, and adjust security posts/assignments as circumstances warrant. Carries out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned post. Teaches facility-specific procedures and policies. Responds to medical emergenciesand fire alarms, and directs security personnel as needed. Provides general information at roll calls. Ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations while implementing security measures. Acts as Incident Commander until additional command resources arrive during a crisis. Assists in conducting shift-based drills to ensure security personnel readiness. Drills include, but are not limited to, de-escalation, CPI, NCI, physical techniques, use of force, active shooter, etc.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

Required: 3 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military discipline; or equivalent training which might include criminal justice, homeland security, or law enforcement academy.
Preferred: 3 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military discipline to include 2 years of supervisory experience or progressively increased responsibility around supervisory-type duties; or equivalent training which might include criminal justice, homeland security, or law enforcement academy to include 2 years of supervisory experience or progressively increased responsibility around supervisory-type duties.

Certifications:

Required: Licensure/certification as required by state law. Valid state driver's license. AHA BLS.CPI
