Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Security Service Technician to join our team in the Syracuse area. You will service and support existing customers, respond to service calls and maintenance, and complete projects to help protect lives and assets.

You will use your advanced knowledge of fire alarm and electronic security systems, perform diagnostics, repairs, and installations, and provide detailed service reports. Local travel and a strong customer-service mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years servicing, integrating, and programming access control systems.
• Experience with CCTV platforms (Milestone/Genetec) is preferred.
• Experience with access control brands (AMAG/Lenel/Genetec/CCURE/S2) is preferred.
• Intrusion system experience (DMP/Bosch) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to routine service calls and maintenance visits in a timely manner.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective parts in security systems.
• Install projects and complete accurate service reports for invoicing and cost tracking.
• Assist customers and colleagues with solutions and maintain a high level of service quality.
• Travel to local job sites as required.

• Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
• Respond to routine and some non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after-hours service calls on a timely basis; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts and debug systems for routine problems; install projects as necessary.
• Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
• Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.

What You’ll Need

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
• Advanced technical skills and experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
• Advanced programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple service needs simultaneously.
• Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• To be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis. Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Requirements

Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience: 5-7 years servicing, integrating, and programming access control systems

• Relevant field service
• CCTV experience: Milestone / Genetec
• Access Control experience: AMAG / Lenel / Genetec / Software House - CCURE / S2
• Intrusion experience: DMP / Bosch

The anticipated compensation of this position is $37.68 - $48.03 per hour.
