Door County is seeking a Security Sergeant to provide direct supervisory oversight of the jail's security staff and daily operations. You will assist the Jail Lieutenant to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and standards, and you will make routine and emergency decisions while developing staff.

The Security Sergeant supports the operational integrity of the Door County Jail by providing direct supervisory oversight of security staff and daily activities. This position assists the Jail Lieutenant in ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and facility standards. The role involves decision‑making in routine and emergency situations, staff development, and coordination with external agencies.
Work is primarily performed within the jail facility under varying shift schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Duties require frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling. Employees must occasionally lift or move up to 60 pounds and have the ability to perform tasks involving vision, hearing, and physical agility. Work may involve exposure to hostile or dangerous situations requiring quick response. Personal protective equipment is provided and required.
In an effort to provide for continuity of County government and to cope with the problems of the emergency, you may be required to work during a proclaimed state of emergency, consistent with Sec. 323.14, Wis. Stats. and County emergency management plans and programs.
