Job summary

The New York State Office of Mental Health is hiring Safety and Security Officers to protect Kingsboro Psychiatric Center. The role includes patrolling grounds, inspecting areas for safety, screening visitors and vehicles, and escorting people on and off campus.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or higher and may qualify through NY HELPS or competitive lists. A one-year trainee program and academy training are required before reaching full performance level.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be a resident of New York State at time of appointment.
• Valid NYS motor vehicle license required.
• Background checks will be required.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling and inspecting assigned areas to ensure proper security.
• Conducting safety inspections of facilities and equipment for compliance with safety codes.
• Screening visitors and vehicles, issuing temporary parking permits and badges.
• Transporting or escorting individuals, visitors, and employees on and off facility grounds.
• Responding to incidents and emergencies.
