Driftwood Hospitality Management seeks a Security Officer at our Wilmington, DE property. You will patrol the hotel to protect guests and staff, maintain a safe environment, and respond calmly to emergencies while upholding hotel policies.

JOB SUMMARY
Monitor and patrol hotel property to ensure the safety of guests and employees to protect all hotel assets. Maintain a safe and secure environment by performing protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats to life and property.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Spendmajorityofshifton foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel toobserveandidentifypotential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions.
Requires verbal communication using pager and two-way radio, bending,stoopingand kneeling as in performing CPR.
Maintain order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of guests, e.g.,assistingwith door lock problems,coordinateexpedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, fire or safety hazards and threats to life and/or property in a calm,rationaland persuasive manner. Handle undesired conduct, violations of hotel policy and civil laws aswarrantedfor the security and safety of hotel guests, employees,patronsand property. Requires grasping, lifting and or carrying or otherwise movingpersons, packages, luggage,wheelchairsand safety equipment using manual dexterity of hands.
Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls and respondin a timely mannerbased on priority.
Use a clear, concise English-speaking voice, listen with empathy, provideaccurateinformation and document legibly allappropriate incidentinformation.
Memorize and monitor life safetysysteminstalled at property including layout of entire building, alarm pull stations, location of fire extinguisher and sprinklers.
Receive, record and store lost and found items. Research and respond to inquirers from guests concerningstatusof items.
Escort guests and employees asrequired toparking lots, provide same for employees carrying house banks.
Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
Follows safety and security procedures and rules.
Knows department fire prevention and emergency procedures.
Utilizesprotective equipment.
Reportsunsafe conditions to management.
Reportsaccidents, injuries, near-misses, propertydamageor loss to management.
Provides fora safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
All team members mustmaintaina neat,cleanand well-groomed appearance. (Specific standards outlined inteammemberhandbook).
Assistsother Front Desk Personnel when needed.
Perform any related duties as requested by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
The Hotel may consider equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities cited below, when applicable
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.
Prior law enforcement or other military experience preferred.
Ability tooperatea computer, printer, copier, and telephone.
Ability to follow writtenand orverbal instructions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, whileremainingflexible and efficient whilemaintaininga pleasant cheerful demeanor.
Ability to listen effectively, speak,readand write English clearly toascertainand documentimportant information.
Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will requirehigh levelsof patience,tactand diplomacy to defuse anger and collectaccurateinformation.
Thorough knowledge of the layout of the building, function rooms, and some knowledge of the city and surrounding areas.
