UPMC McKeesport is seeking a skilled Security Officer to join our Safety and Security Department. This full-time role covers day, evening and overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays, with a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities include patrolling hospitals and adjacent properties, monitoring alarms, responding to incidents, and providing exceptional customer service to patients, visitors and staff. Growth paths exist within technical and managerial tracks at UPMC.

Qualifications

  • Experience in security or law enforcement preferred.
  • Maintain required certifications and licensing.
  • Ability to patrol hospital settings and adjacent properties.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas.
  • Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff to maintain a safe environment.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft.
  • Respond to and resolve problems, disputes and unusual circumstances.
  • Maintain required certifications and licensing.
  • Assist with traffic control and vehicle assists.
  • Transport deceased to morgue/release bodies as needed.
  • Monitor alarms (security, fire, environmental) and respond as required.
  • Patrol UPMC hospitals, buildings, grounds and associated areas to deter crime.
  • Document incidents and activities in appropriate reports.
  • Establish a visible security presence and coordinate with UPMC Police Officers as necessary.
  • Operate company vehicles per Pennsylvania Vehicle Code.
  • Conduct patient escorts and stand-by details.
  • Complete mandatory training per departmental guidelines.
  • Report and document incidents, suspicious activities and hazards.

UPMC McKeesport’s Safety and Security Department is currently hiring a regular, fulltime Security Officer to work various shifts including day, evening and overnight. This position will also have weekend and holiday responsibility.

Establish a uniformed security presence by patrolling UPMC hospitals, buildings, grounds and associated areas to deter criminal activity, document activities, and contact UPMC Police Officers or other appropriate law enforcement when necessary.
