Foundation Health Partners is seeking a Security Officer for Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. The role involves patrolling facilities, responding to emergencies, investigating incidents, and assisting staff, patients, and visitors while upholding security policies.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and at least 1 year in security or completion of FHP security officer training.
This position tours the facilities and grounds; assists with the welfare and safety of personnel and patients; investigates critical incidents; assists employees, patients and visitors; interfaces with emergency response agencies; secures doors; monitors parking and traffic control. Uses integrity and honesty when performing assigned security duties. Reports all security violations, and performs duties promptly and accurately. Works varied assignments and shifts.
Shift differentials available: $2.00/hr. Weekend: $2.50/hr. Evening: $6.00/hr. Night.
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital is a non‑profit facility owned by the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation. A Joint Commission‑accredited facility with 152 licensed beds, it is the primary referral center for residents of Alaska’s interior. In addition to an exceptional clinical environment, the location offers a small‑town lifestyle in an area known for natural beauty and recreation.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating core and leadership behaviors each day.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy (if from out of state, within 90 days of employment). Must possess at least one (1) year of relevant experience in security, law enforcement, military or similar training and/or experience, or have successfully completed the FHP security officer training program. Must have the ability to make accurate observations and exercise good independent judgment in a variety of situations, including emergencies. Must demonstrate the ability to write comprehensive security reports. Must have basic computer skills. Must successfully complete all required security departmental training, including all Officer Trainee competencies within the first 6 months of employment, and all other department‑specific annual training as assigned. Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times and possess strong verbal communication skills. Must pass a psychological evaluation upon hire and promotion to an armed officer. Must qualify and maintain proficiency with assigned skills and tools consistent with the force continuum, excluding firearms. Skills/tools may include AVADE Advanced Workplace Violence Mitigation Skills, handcuffs, OC Gel, Taser and expandable baton. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the physical requirements of the position; physical skills assessment details are as described. Employees hired on or after January 1, 2022 must demonstrate physical requirements before starting. Employees hired before January 1, 2022 had until December 31, 2022. Subsequent quarterly or annual assessments may be required.
Prefer Law enforcement, military or security related experience, including experience working within a medical facility.
