Job summary

Ochsner Health in Louisiana is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard patients, guests, and staff. You will enforce safety rules, conduct inspections, respond to incidents, and participate in emergency drills.

Required qualifications include a High School diploma, 1 year of security experience, BLS, CPI, firearms training, and a valid driver’s license. Must read/write English and be prepared to report for duty during disasters as Team A Essential Personnel.

• Ability to walk the company property including interior and exterior areas, stairs.

• Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, using stairwells in 11 floor plus structure.

Job Duties

• Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
• Conducts routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations of the company.
• Investigates accidents and other incidents which are assigned and reports all occurrences in a timely manner.
• Performs opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration and performs other safety and security related duties as assigned.
• Participates in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
• Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
