Job description

What You’ll Do

The Special Events Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, guests, and property within a designated area. They play a crucial role in preventing and responding to security threats, emergencies, and incidents and have a supervisory component that assigns officers to posts and duties within company policy.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and well‑being of guests and fellow team members.
  • Provide directions and escorts to guests/customers in need.
  • Set up wanding stations and check all bags entering the venue.
  • Communicate effectively with members of Security and Showroom Management.
  • Assist civil and law‑enforcement authorities, including providing testimony in court and other administrative hearings.
  • Perform chip fills and jackpot verifications.
  • Escort money and persons in money‑handling positions.
  • Provide first aid, including CPR when necessary.
  • Patrol all sections of property to identify safety hazards and breaches in security.
  • Interview, investigate, and document all applicable incidents in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist with Lost and Found inquiries.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Verify that the theater is in operating condition upon arrival (e.g., checking emergency exits and stairwells).
  • Ensure an AED is in the correct area and in working order.
  • Report unsafe or blocked areas to the Manager on Shift or Supervisor/Lead.
  • Attend pre‑shift meetings with the Showroom Supervisor or as scheduled before opening.
  • Work directly with the Showroom Manager/Supervisors/Leads to ensure correct execution of policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Box Office to appropriately handle VIP & VVIP guests and manage seating reconfigurations.
  • Make sound judgments on decisions affecting customer flow.
  • Monitor physical surroundings in assigned area before and throughout the show for safety, cleanliness, and functionality.
  • Respond quickly and courteously to patron needs, questions, comments, or concerns.
  • Be alert while at assigned post and throughout the assigned showroom.
  • Report quickly to any issues that require Security assistance.
  • Walk through assigned area at the end of the show/event, recover lost items, and turn them into Lost and Found.
  • Submit assigned reports as directed.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

  • Complete the Security Academy within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Make quick decisions or take charge of potentially volatile situations.
  • Respond to acts of aggression at the lowest level necessary to effect control.
  • Assess incidents and determine the safest options in the force continuum.
  • Actively assist with established front‑of‑house emergency procedures.
  • Familiar with location and operation of emergency exits and equipment.
  • Assistance to House Manager with injuries, medical problems, etc.
  • Assist patrons with ADA/special needs.
  • Provide accurate venue logistics information to patrons.
  • Document and write detailed voluntary statements.
  • Read event tickets (small print) in dim lighting with a flashlight.
  • Repeatedly climb stairs for effective staff coverage as needed.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs (e.g., stanchions, boxes, chairs, tables).
  • Stand/walk for long periods, sometimes for the entire duration of the show/event.
  • High school graduate or equivalent; prior military, police, or security background is a plus.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work in loud and dark environments for extended periods.
  • Must be able to comply with all physical and mental requirements.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
