Job summary

Pearl River Resort seeks a security professional to safeguard guests, associates and property on assigned shifts. You will respond to incidents, document events, and assist with emergency responses while maintaining high guest service standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Execute security duties on assigned shift to protect life and property.
  • Generate written incident reports.
  • Render basic First Aid to guests and associates as required.
  • Escort and observe guests and associates to ensure safety and report hazards.
  • Coordinate emergency responses as Dispatcher and liaise with outside agencies.
  • Safely operate company vehicles as directed.
  • Protect assets during money handling and gaming token transport.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and guest service throughout the property.
  • Observe for irregularities and participate in resolving disputes with department managers.

Responsible for properly executing security duties on assigned shift, to adequately protect the life and property of guests, associates and the company’s property.

Adhere to any and all company and departmental policies, practices and procedures.


Contribute to a safe work environment, through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person for proper resolution.


Maintain a professional departmental, company and community reputation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:



  • Perform assigned duties in accordance with the Choctaw Gaming Commission Regulations, internal controls, Standard Operating Procedures and written policies and procedures affecting the protection and safeguarding of all property assets at the Pearl River Resort.

  • Generates necessary written reports regarding security-related incidents involving guests, Associates and/or the facility.

  • Render basic First Aid to all guests and associates of the Pearl River Resort, as required.

  • Interact, escort and observe guests and Associates, to ensure their safety and protection; identifies potential safety hazards and report same to the appropriate individual

  • Acts as a Dispatcher during emergency situations, and coordinates solutions to same; informs outside agencies of any unusual or suspicious situations on property.

  • Operates company vehicles as directed to do so.

  • Ensures safe transportation of company moneys and gaming tokens; assists in the slot drop and table games drop to ensure assets are protected.

  • Interacts with guests and Associates in a positive, professional manner.

  • Ensures a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.

  • Observe player actions and associate procedures for irregularities and exceptions.

  • Participate in resolving customer disputes with department managers, as required.

  • Accepts identification from all persons who appear to be under the legal age, to ensure compliance with tribal, state and federal gaming regulations.

  • Interact with guests and associates in a professional manner.

  • Leads by setting a positive example to all associates.

  • Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.

  • Promotes a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction in the department.

  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

AGE and GAMING:


21 years of age or above


Gaming property – Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Choctaw Gaming Commission.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


High School diploma or GED is required. One (1) year of experience in casino security, law enforcement, corrections, industrial or private security is required. Prior security experience in casino gaming is preferred. Honorable discharge from the Armed Forces will be considered to have met the minimum experience requirements - a DD214 will be required. Experience as a firefighter or volunteer firefighter may be accepted in lieu or related security experience in casino security, law enforcement, corrections, industrial or private security.


SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Must complete Incident Management System course within one (1) year of employment. May not be convicted or arrested of any criminal offense.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and other associates of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


REASONING ABILITY:


Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


Essential duties for this position include but not limited to the following: Safely lift and/or move up to eighty (80) pounds on occasions as well stand and walk for 100% of assigned shift. Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing and pulling will be required throughout shift. Must successfully complete PPCT (Pressure Point Control Techniques), Conflict Resolution Training, and all other training offered by the Security Department. Must be willing to be involved in volatile situations.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. When on the casino floor or other designated areas may be subjected to tobacco smoke.


Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Associates must be able to work varying-schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
