Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV, is seeking a part-time Security Officer (PRN) to provide safe, secure access and information to patients, visitors and staff. The role supports the Security Program with a strong presence, incident reporting, and response during emergencies.

• Defensive tactics and multiple certifications to be completed per department policy.
• Background checks required as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility at assigned locations and assist patients, visitors, and staff.
• Provide information, directions and courteous assistance to all.
• Offer wheelchair and transport assistance and escort services as needed.
• Monitor parking areas, issue permits, and enforce rules.
• Protect people and property by preventing incidents and theft per policy.
• Conduct routine building rounds and check doors and patrol exterior areas.
• Suggest security improvements to management and staff.
• Report suspicious activity and incidents following procedures.
• Assist during fire drills, emergencies, and disaster events.
• Document activities and incidents clearly for supervision.
• Respond to assaults, domestic disputes, and other emergencies as required.
• Perform patient restraint when directed by clinical staff, and intervene physically if needed.
• Operate hospital vehicles safely and perform basic inspections.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment are in safe operating condition.
• Support additional duties such as incident reporting, crowd control, and duress situations.

Provides physical assistance, wheelchair assistance, transport services, escort services and room access patients, visitors and staff accessing WVU Medicine facilities.4. Monitors and maintains traffic flow in parking areas and roadways by assisting disabled vehicles, issuing parking permits and warning violations.5. Protects people and property by assisting in the prevention of accidents, theft and vandalism, in accordance with system and department policies and procedures, as monitored by supervision.6. Performs routine building rounds, building door unlocks, exterior building and parking lot patrol.7. Makes recommendations to management, staff, visitors and patients to improve security and prevent accidents and crime.8. Reports suspicious situations, circumstances, incidents and persons, according to system and department policy and procedures.9. Responds and provides assistance to patients, visitors and staff during fire and disaster drills, animal control issues, transportation of valuables, and lost/found issues, according to system and department policy and procedures.10. Provides written documentation of activities, incidents, premises safety, accidents, theft, vandalism and other data requested by supervision in a factual, objective and legible manner.11. Responds to and provides assistance to patients, visitors and staff during emergency situations such as; assaults, domestic disputes, fire, vandalism, bomb threats, theft, vehicle accidents, disasters, etc.12. Performs patient restraint as directed by clinical staff, and is capable of physical intervention when appropriate.13. Operates Hospital-owned vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.14. Ensures safety and proper operating condition of vehicles by performing vehicle inspections, as outlined by departmental policy.15.
